The Interact Club in Brettonwood High School hosted an induction ceremony on 11 February 2019, in the school hall. This induction ceremony was to induct learners congratulating them on their pledge to serve as members of the Brettonwood community as well as fellow Interact Clubs.
The Interact Club comprises of learners who help anyone in need, visiting orphanages or homes, handing out food or clothes. Thabiso Mankuza, the club’s President, outlined the importance of this club in the school, “It is not the badge that puts you out as an Interact Club Member, but your doings.” He further reiterated that he hopes the club will continue to achieve all the goals set in the coming year and build on the 20108 project where the club visited a home in Durban Youth Care and Child Center and handed over donated items (brought by learners in all grades). These items assisted the Centre for a few months.
Mr A. Maharaj, from the Morningside Rotary Club, also spoke and informed those present of the vital role Interact clubs play in school. He also stated that Rotary International brings business and professional leaders together, from all spheres, in order to provide human services and trio advance goodwill and peace around the world.
We are delighted that this club has reemerged in our school and cannot wait to assist and help with future projects.
